South Whiting

Successful Redevelopment into a Mixed-Income Community
Completed 2010-2014

The 24 new units built in the South Whiting Street community were constructed as replacement housing for another redeveloped public housing site. The land was acquired through Eminent Domain for the public good and then redeveloped into this new community. The townhouses are built in the “two over two” style as well as in two-story apartment units over flats. The flats were built to accommodate persons with special needs. The mixed-income neighborhood contributes to the diversity of the larger, established mid-to-high end condominium community. The exterior architecture was designed to complement the historic look and feel of the City and the interior amenities provide all of the benefits of energy efficient construction.
